My name is Ernest "E.G." Shields and I am a candidate for Mayor of Pagedale.

I would like to share a bit about myself and my experience so you have confidence in me as your choice for Pagedale Mayor.

I am the pastor of the Mount Beulah Missionary Baptist Church, located on Page near Hanley, where I have served the congregation faithfully for over forty-five years.  I have been a part of the Pagedale community for many years.

I have contributed to and supported many projects in Pagedale, along the way including:

  • 2009, Mt. Beulah Terrace groundbreaking, and ultimately the dedication and ribbon-cutting ... I was there.

  • 2010, Save A Lot… I was there.

  • 2012, Rosie Shields Manor and the Midwest Bank Centre groundbreaking and opening ceremony… I was there.

  • 2015, 24:1 Cinema Theater groundbreaking and open house… I was there.

  • 2017, Pagedale Community welcomed Affinia Healthcare to the area… I was there

  • 2019, Matt Carpenter Baseball Field (behind City Hall) dedication … I was there.

Not only was I there and a part of these efforts, as a former board member of Beyond Housing, I have blended my voice and given votes of approval with other board members for the great work that has been done in Pagedale by way of the building of affordable housing and the economic development of the Page and Ferguson corridors.

As a 24:1 Council Board member of the Midwest Bank Centre, I am pleased with the progress that the bank is making to help keep our community stabilized and its investment in our city.

As a member of the Pagedale Housing Authority, I have a clear understanding of the importance of low-income housing for the citizens that are in our community.

As your Mayor, I will continue to advocate for positive changes in the community as I have done in the past…

It has been rightly said in the old African proverb that “It takes a village to raise a child!”  In this day and time, I believe that village in part is “Pagedale” – where you and I can make a difference!.

I am an experienced individual who brings knowledge of civil policies, procedures, needs, challenges and strengths of the community. I am willing to work to preserve the integrity, personal endeavor and accountability, and a strong and determined work ethic dedicated to serving and assisting all residents.

One of the issues you will be asked to decide with your vote is who will be best suited to work for you, the community and the residents of Pagedale. And, that is why I would like to earn your vote and support.

You’ll be seeing more information about my campaign during the upcoming weeks. Please consider joining my campaign by hosting a fundraiser, coffee, placing literature, making telephone calls, canvassing or working on the polls. If you would like to make a financial contribution to my campaign; make checks payable to "CITIZENS TO ELECT ERNEST SHIELDS," P.O. Box 211328, St. Louis, MO 63121. With your help, we can cross the finish line first.

I will be looking for you at the polls on April 7th.

Best Regards,

E.G. Shields
